滔滔珠水南粵風(fēng)，五秩春秋育人。中外寰宇鳳鳴聲，云山依舊盛，廣外啟鵬程。2015年11月7日，廣東外語(yǔ)外貿(mào)大學(xué)將迎來(lái)50周年華誕。在此，我們謹(jǐn)向長(zhǎng)期以來(lái)關(guān)心支持廣外建設(shè)與發(fā)展的各級(jí)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)、海內(nèi)外校友、各界人士和朋友，致以衷心的感謝和誠(chéng)摯的問(wèn)候！

歲月滄桑，春華秋實(shí)。廣外的前身廣州外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)院和廣州對(duì)外貿(mào)易學(xué)院分別于1965年和1980年在南粵大地上誕生。1995年，兩所學(xué)校珠聯(lián)璧合，組建了廣東外語(yǔ)外貿(mào)大學(xué)。2008年，廣東財(cái)經(jīng)職業(yè)學(xué)院劃入廣外。建校以來(lái)，我們始終踐行“明德尚行，學(xué)貫中西”校訓(xùn)精神，歷經(jīng)幾代人的艱苦創(chuàng)業(yè)和努力奮斗，廣外已發(fā)展成為一所具有鮮明國(guó)際化特色的重點(diǎn)大學(xué)，是華南地區(qū)國(guó)際化人才培養(yǎng)和外國(guó)語(yǔ)言文化、對(duì)外經(jīng)濟(jì)貿(mào)易、國(guó)際戰(zhàn)略研究的重要基地。學(xué)校為國(guó)家社會(huì)培養(yǎng)了十余萬(wàn)各界英才俊彥，遍布四海，譽(yù)傳中外。

砥礪耕耘，鏗鏘前行。辦學(xué)五十載，廣外走出了一條獨(dú)具特色的發(fā)展道路，在人才培養(yǎng)、學(xué)科建設(shè)、科學(xué)研究、社會(huì)服務(wù)、國(guó)際交流、文化傳承等方面取得了突出成就。面對(duì)國(guó)家經(jīng)濟(jì)社會(huì)發(fā)展和高等教育發(fā)展的新形勢(shì)，學(xué)校堅(jiān)持內(nèi)涵發(fā)展，加快改革創(chuàng)新，大力推進(jìn)教育國(guó)際化戰(zhàn)略，正朝著建設(shè)國(guó)際化特色鮮明的高水平大學(xué)的偉大目標(biāo)昂首邁進(jìn)，努力為國(guó)家和廣東經(jīng)濟(jì)社會(huì)發(fā)展做出新的貢獻(xiàn)。

鴻庠木鐸振羊城，慣看滄桑崢嶸。一朝師友喜相逢，廣外多少事，共憶笑談中。學(xué)校將本著隆重、熱烈、節(jié)儉的原則，以“重逢·筑夢(mèng)”為主題開(kāi)展建校50周年系列活動(dòng)。值此盛典，我們誠(chéng)摯邀請(qǐng)各級(jí)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)、四海校友、中外賓朋聚首廣外，共襄盛舉，齊展宏圖，同譜華章！

Celebrating GDUFS's Proud Past and Fantastic Future!

Not only celebrating the past…

 

Throughout 2015, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) will be celebrating 50 years of learning by recognizing key events, people and achievements in our short yet remarkable history. Visit our 50th anniversary website (http://gw50.gdufs.edu.cn) and you will find stories from our past, the latest news, and details of our plans to mark the anniversary year. We will be looking at key events over the past 50 years and covering the many successes we have been so fortunate to share with students - both past and present - in business, industry, science and the other key education areas GDUFS is famous for. We trust you will find our year-long celebration fascinating, uplifting and illuminating - and we'd love you to get involved. Please share your stories, experiences, and thoughts on what we might do in the next 50 years. We encourage you to join in the celebrations in this auspicious year while the grand ceremony falls in early November 2015.

Today’s GDUFS is just the beginning. As we celebrate 50 years of excellence, we are already looking forward to our centenary in 2065. The University attaches great importance to developing academic and cultural exchanges with overseas institutions. At present, it has established links with over 260 universities, academic institutions or cultural organizations in regions and countries around the world. With 18 foreign language majors provided, GDUFS is one of the few universities in South China that offer such a variety of language teaching.

The University is one of the most prestigious universities in China today. Specializing in international studies, GDUFS is one of the key institutions of higher learning in Guangdong Province. It was established through the merger of the Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Languages, the Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Trade and others.

The University is based in Guangzhou, a city with a long history, a rich cultural legacy and the economic hub of Southern China. It boasts three campuses, the main one lying at the foot of Baiyun Mountain. Currently the university offers 61 undergraduate majors, which fall into eight disciplines: literature, economics, management, law, engineering, science, education and art. GDUFS is home to two national key research centers, one for research in humanities and social sciences, and the other for training students of minor languages.
