主講簡(jiǎn)介：
王心揚(yáng),美國(guó)耶魯大學(xué)歷史學(xué)博士。從1988年起，先后任新加坡東亞哲學(xué)研究所研究員、耶魯大學(xué)美國(guó)研究系及歷史系博士后、講師。1991至1995年，任美國(guó)華盛頓州立大學(xué)比較美國(guó)文化系及歷史系助理教授。1995年轉(zhuǎn)至香港科技大學(xué)人文學(xué)部，先后任助理教授、副教授、教授。2012年返回內(nèi)地任教，先后任北京外國(guó)語(yǔ)大學(xué)英語(yǔ)學(xué)院教授和上海交通大學(xué)人文學(xué)院致遠(yuǎn)講席教授。目前任山東大學(xué)人文社科一級(jí)教授、《文史哲》雜志英文版執(zhí)行主編。主要研究方向?yàn)槊绹?guó)歷史、美國(guó)社會(huì)史。發(fā)表過(guò)英文論文及評(píng)論的雜志包括：Labor History, New York History, Studi Emigrazion: International Journal of Migration Studies, Western Historical Quarterly, the American Historical Review 和 Amerasia Journal。

美國(guó)的政治文化在9-11后發(fā)生了重要的變化。如美國(guó)政府以國(guó)家安全為由，采取了許多針對(duì)移民和少數(shù)族裔的歧視性措施。不過(guò)，奇怪的是，這些措施并沒(méi)有像以往那樣遇到大規(guī)模的、激烈抗議。這一方面是因?yàn)槊绹?guó)民眾出于對(duì)恐怖主義的懼怕，變得容忍這些歧視性措施了。另一方面，9-11后的政治文化也給排外主義和種族主義帶來(lái)了可乘之機(jī)，使它們能夠卷土重來(lái)。
American political culture has undergone significant changes following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. Among other things, the government has adopted multiple harsh measures towards potential immigrants and the racial minorities in the name of national security. Surprisingly, however, these discriminatory measures have not been met with large-scale and vehement protests as they had in the past. This is partly because the public, paranoid of terrorism, has become more tolerant of those harsh measures, and partly because the changed political culture allowed nativism and racism to stage a comeback.
