佳亞特里·斯皮瓦克(GayatriC. Spivak，1942- )，出生于印度，是當(dāng)今世界首屈一指的文學(xué)理論家和文化批評(píng)家，西方后殖民理論思潮的主要代表，早年師承美國(guó)解構(gòu)批評(píng)大師保羅·德曼，獲得康奈爾大學(xué)博士學(xué)位，在20世紀(jì)70年代曾以將解構(gòu)大師德里達(dá)的Dela grammatologie引入英語(yǔ)世界而蜚聲北美理論界，后又以演講的雄辯和批評(píng)文風(fēng)的犀利而馳騁于80、90年的英語(yǔ)文化理論界。

Spivak, University Professor in the Humanities, a founding memberof the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society, Columbia University.She is internationally renowned as a translator and commentator of JacqueDerrida’s Of Grammatology (1976). Her own critical theories mark her anoutstanding intellectual of postcolonial studies, gender studies andcomparative literary studies in the contemporary era. Some of her works are:

七、內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)介：

Appropriately taught, the humanities have transformative power.Classically, the humanities within the university tradition that we followhave been literature and philosophy. The social sciences, when not completelyquantitative, are also touched by the humanities method. I describe this methodas an “uncoercive rearrangement of desire.” I look at the implications of theseconvictions in today’s globalized world. My lecture is based on experience.
